Bed, Bath & Beyond

Yes, it's true! I am the newest employee at Bed, Bath & Beyond in American Fork, UT. Wahoo!! I have been there for about 3 weeks now. I LOVE the store, that's why I wanted to get a job there! :) I work about 15-20 hrs/wk just nights and weekends so that Dustin is home with Bella and Senia. It's quite a change going from corporate business to retail, I must say! It's good, just different.

So... should have any inquiry into which cookware to buy, what color of towels to get, the most common wedding gifts, when clearance will start, where the small appliances and top-stocked, or where to find special size sheets... I'm your gal! I'm learning it all and having great fun working in what could realistically be a "candy store" to women like me. ;) Well... really my candy store would be Bed, Bath & Beyond mixed with Spoons and Spice with Nordstrom thrown in...@ 0% for 18 mths, but 33% there works for me! :)

Ooops-a-Daisy!

WARNING!! Before continuing to read this blog, you'll want to run to the restroom, swallow whatever you're eating or drinking, and possibly grab a tissue. Tears will be running!

K... so I'm sleeping in my bed... nestled under the covers, temperature is perfect, all cuddled up. About 12:30 Isabella is screaming, so Daddy runs to her rescue and she spends the rest of the night with us. Well, that was the first rude awakening. (I'm already laughing... though I realize you don't know why! ;)) LOL!! The second came about 4am. I'm not sure what I was trying to do. Maybe I was twisted in my night gown, maybe my bossom had fallen out again (I really need to just get rid of that nightgown..too big in the wrong spots), maybe I was trying to scoot over so Isabella had more room. I don't know. But all of a sudden, I feel this unbelievable pain across my buttocks. Ouch!! It was like someone had (laughing so hard I can't hardly type...), like someone had hit me across the bottom with a bat or something. Next thing I remember, Dustin's head popped up (..give me a minute here..) asking me if I was okay? (... hang on...) Yes, I replied... still not sure what was going on.. but then realizing I was not in bed, but rather sitting on the floor, facing my bed and was trying to straighten my nightgown. ( I need a tissue... the tears are falling...). I had fallen out of bed!! WHAT?!?!?! Yes, I was on the floor next to my bed!! My bum really hurt!! Our bed has hard wood side rails that come up high enough to cover the box spring and that's where the "baseball bat" feeling came from... I had hit it on the way down. (Hysterical by now...) Isn't this funny!?! I can't believe it. I'm 31 and I fell out of the bed! How many people can say that? Shoot!

I made it back into bed still not sure how that happened, Isabella slept through the ordeal and Dustin was glad it wasn't someone hitting the house outside... but I'm quite sure he was still half asleep himself. So... he hung on to me for a bit after that...as I tried to control my laughter not wanting to wake anyone, but dying to share my funny story. Who does that?? It should only be people with a 3 or a 1 in their age, but not both... 1-okay, 3-okay, 81-okay, 83-okay... but never 31! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!! I made it until 6:30am all by myself... no more falls!! Then it was time to get up.

Needless to say I have a bump on one side of my bum... that must have been the hardest hit. It is a visible bump... bruised it good. So, I hurried to tell my mom that I wouldn't be coming by (she was going to watch Isabella while I went to the dentist) ... so I wasn't coming by because it hurt to sit down. Ha, ha, ha! There was no way I was going to try and sit in the dentist seat and make the visit any more uncomfortable than it had to be. We laughed again! I guess the good thing out of this is although I may have woken my Mom up earlier than she would have gotten up... we started the day with laughter! So funny!! Ha, ha, ha!!

Friday Night Camp-out

Leave it to my mom to come up with all the fun ideas! Seriously, it was great! She and my Dad started this tradition a year or two ago... a camp out with the grandkids...in the back yard. With an acre of land... camping in the back of the yard can seem like the wilderness to the little ones :). So, we all went to Harvest Home and got ready for the festivities!

It began with a fieldtrip with all the grandkids to the neighbors house who has quite a collection of birds. Beautiful birds! Then it was time to cook our dinner... hot dogs and Brats over the firs built in the backyard. Yummy! Of course, it did start to rain and the decision to stay in or out was quite an ordeal. TOo many opinions in the family... ;) But, we WERE camping in Nana and Papa's backyard...so we put up the awning and stayed outside.

Then it was time for a delicious dessert! Banana Boats! So, first we took a banana... sliced it in half, put some sugar, butter and chocolate chips inside and wrapped it in foil. Then Papa put them in the fire just long enough for the chocolate chips to melt. Then we took them out, unwrapped the foil just enough to squeeze the ends of the banana together to create our boat! Then we added the vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, sprinkles, and a cherry! Yummy!!

Lots of fun was had by all!! Playing with cousins, jumping on the trampoline, swinging, etc, etc, etc. I think there was going to be a baseball game, but somehow we ran out of time. Next time!! What a fun tradition!! Joel and Gen's families stayed to campout in their tents... we came home to sleep in our beds and Matt's family went home as well.

Tomorrow they will enjoy some cinnamon swirl bread as french toast! I hope this continues... fun traditions and when the kids are old enough... it'll be a weekend just for Mom and Dad at home, while the kids play with Nana and Papa! ha, ha, ha!

Ripping off the American public...

"Are you serious??" often comes to mind when we nearly croak at a sticker price on a fabulous price or hear the total at the grocery store, or when we have bought only the necessities for the new school year.  Is it really necessary for CEO's to pad their pockets and live in the lap of luxury while the rest of us scramble to find the best deals, clip hundreds of coupons, only shop on certain days and ration the water we drink??  Now, please realize that I'm NOT including all CEO's... just think back to recent news stories or glance at the gas prices and you'll know who I'm talking about.

It has even come to the coupon distributors (so to speak) or helpers or resources that are starting to rip of the American public.  There is a site (for their sake, I will not name...but if you MUST know, just email me) you subscribe for a small fee and they sort through various stores ads, list what's on sale, if it's something to stock up on or not, if there are coupons, and the final price.  I thought I had just found the key to getting my groceries for $25... like all the news stories show.  So, I subscribed... got my 4 weeks free and my 8 week charge just took place this past week.  Well... tonight I'm looking for bargains before my grocery trip tomorrow and come across another site that has MANY MORE store options, updates more frequently and it's FREE!!  Now... I realize that $15 every 8 weeks isn't a large sum of money... but when someone else is doing it for free and it's a greater value...come on!!  Help us out here!  Don't take the $$ we could have used for meat for 1.5 meals or shoe laces (cause that would only but a heel of a shoe) or gas to get to the gas station when someone else is doing it out of the goodness of their heart.   Yes, I do realize some of you are thinking... hoo-raw!!  to the one getting people to PAY for it.  Well, yes... smart business plan...but can't we stop trying to find every avenue possible to CHARGE someone for something and just be good people and "help a brother out"??
